The Ferrari 625LM Spyder Touring was a racing car that Scuderia Ferrari used in 1956.

Development history

Ferrari 625LM Spider was a special version of the Ferrari 500TR to them, only three were built from the 1956 24-hour race at Le Mans in the same year use. The 625LM got more powerful 4-cylinder in-line engines . These engines made 225 hp at 2498 cm³. The vehicles had independent suspension at the front and a rigid axle at the rear. The body was from Touring ; it was the company's last job for Ferrari.

Racing history

The three racing cars with the body numbers 0632MDTR, 0642MDTR and 0644MDTR were driven in Le Mans by the teams Olivier Gendebien / Maurice Trintignant , André Simon / Phil Hill and Alfonso de Portago / Duncan Hamilton . While the car of Simon / Hill and de Portago / Hamilton failed early technical defects, Gendebien and Trintignant arrived with her 625LM behind the winners Ninian Sanderson and Ron Flockhart in Jaguar D-Type and the Aston Martin of Stirling Moss and Peter Collins to third Rank in the overall ranking.

After the race, the three racing cars were upgraded to the 2-liter engine of the 500TR and sold.
