Automobili Nazzaro was an Italian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The racing driver Felice Nazzaro founded the company Nazzaro & C., Fabbrica Automobili in Turin on July 1, 1911 together with his brother-in-law Pilade Masoero as well as Maurizio Fabry and Arnold Zoller and began producing automobiles. The brand name was Nazzaro . In 1916 the company was liquidated and bought by Franco Tosi. After the First World War , the new company Automobili Nazzaro was founded in Florence . Production ended in 1923.

The first model Tipo 1 had a four-cylinder engine with 4398 cc capacity , 70  hp (55 kW) and a four-speed transmission. It was offered in touring car and sedan body styles . The next model, the Tipo 2 or 20/30 HP , had the same engine, but was designed to be sportier, and in particular was available as an open two-seater. The maximum speed was given as 100 km / h. The Tipo 3 or 35 HP was based on the Tipo 2 , but with a more powerful engine. In 1914, a number of racing cars with four-cylinder engines with a displacement of 4500 cm³ and four valves per cylinder were built for the French Grand Prix . The Tipo 4 followed before the war. From 1915 onwards, trucks were produced, some of which had an Anzani engine. A total of around 50 trucks and 230 passenger cars were built by 1916.

Now the Tipo 5 was created , again a racing car. This model had a four-cylinder engine with 3500 cm³ displacement, a pointed radiator and was used in 1920 for the Targa Florio . From 1922 the engine had two exhaust valves per cylinder . A total of around 210 cars were built from 1919.

Racing successes

Felice Nazzaro won the Targa Florio on a Tipo 2 in 1913 and the Coppa Florio on a Tipo 3 in 1914 .
