Arnold Zoller
Arnold Zoller (born September 1, 1882 in Winterthur ; † December 8, 1934 in Darmstadt ) was a Swiss engineer who played a key role in the development of compressors and the development of two-stroke engines .
Zoller completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic at the Sulzer Brothers AG in Winterthur, and in 1906 he received his diploma as a machine technician at the Winterthur technical center .
In 1911 Arnold Zoller co-founded the automaker Automobili Nazzaro in Turin. In 1916, after the closure of Nazzaro, Zoller worked for Argus Motoren Gesellschaft for the development of compressors, and later he worked for Horch . In the 1920s, Zoller had applied for patents on two-stroke engines. Zoller's patent on the connecting rod for double-piston engines, as well as his work on compressors, have had a lasting impact on engine construction. His vane fan was in the 1930s to improve performance both BMW as well as the DKW and NSU used in record-breaking race motorcycles.
For Röhr Auto AG in Ober-Ramstadt , Zoller developed a 1.5 liter 6-cylinder two-stroke double-piston engine for the Grand Prix - Monoposto from 1928 , which was built by the Röhr -Werke in 1934 .
