The Società Anonima Wolseley Italiana , Wolsit for short , was an Italian manufacturer of automobiles . There are also Officine Legnanesi Automobili Wolsit and Officine Automobili Legnanesi Wolsit called.
Company history
The company was founded in Legnano in January 1907 . The Banca di Legnano with 2 million lire and the Macchi brothers from Varese were involved . The aim was to produce automobiles under license from the Wolseley Motor Company . The brand name was Wolsit .
The company exhibited vehicles at the Milan Motor Show from May 19 to June 9, 1907 and at the Turin Motor Show from January 18 to February 2, 1908 .
Only a few vehicles were built due to the economic crisis at the time. One source says there were around 25 vehicles. In 1909 the company was liquidated .
A successor company then manufactured bicycles .

Two sources state that complete vehicles were made. A third source thinks that chassis were imported from England , which served as a base, received their own bodies and were completed in this way. A total of five models of passenger cars have come down to us.
The smallest model was the 10/12 HP . He had a two-cylinder engine with 1775 cc displacement . This type of model specification indicates 10 tax horsepower and 12 horsepower engine output.
There were also two models with four-cylinder engines . The 16/24 HP had 3550 cm³ displacement and the 30/40 HP 5555 cm³ displacement.
The largest model was the 45/60 HP . Its six-cylinder engine had a displacement of 8190 cc.
The last model to appear on the market was the 14/20 HP . It had a four-cylinder engine and a displacement of 2587 cc.
The vehicle with the number 2699 was intended for Margaret of Italy .
The chassis of a bus was also exhibited in Milan .
Motorsport
Three vehicles took part in the Coppa Florio in Brescia on September 1, 1907 . Wild, George and Jo Durlacher have been handed down as drivers . Wild reached the goal in 13th place.
