Tristan Gommendy (born January 4, 1980 in Le Chesnay , Île-de-France ) is a French racing driver .

Career

In 1992 Gommendy began his motorsport career in kart racing , in which he was active until 1997. In 1999 Gommendy switched to French Formula Renault and reached fifth place. From 2000 to 2002 Gommendy was active for ASM in the French Formula 3 championship . After finishing eleventh in 2000 and sixth in 2001, he won the French Formula 3 championship title for ASM in 2002. He also won the prestigious Macau Grand Prix that season .

Then the Frenchman was active in the Formula Renault V6 Eurocup in 2003 and finished fourth in the overall standings with a victory. In 2004 Gommendy switched to the World Series by Nissan and finished fifth overall at the end of the season. In 2005 he stayed in the series, now renamed the World Series by Renault, and improved to fourth place in the drivers' championship at the end of the season. In 2006 Gommendy started the season at iSport International in the GP2 series . After five race weekends, in which the Frenchman scored six points, he was replaced by Timo Glock . At the end of the season he finished 20th overall. Then he returned to the World Series by Renault and finished 19th overall with four races.

In 2007 Gommendy left Europe and switched to the ChampCar World Series for PKV Racing . At the end of the season, with fourth place as the best result, he finished twelfth in the overall standings. In 2008 the Frenchman returned to Europe and competed in the first season of the Superleague Formula for the FC Porto team. With a win, his team finished seventh overall at the end of the season. He also took part in a race in the Le Mans Series . In 2009 , Gommendy stayed in the Superleague Formula. Starting again for FC Porto, he managed to win another race. He also took part in four races in the Le Mans Series. In 2010 Gommendy will contest his third season in the Superleague Formula. For the first time, he will be playing for the Galatasaray Istanbul team supervised by Barazi-Epsilon . After the first race weekend, his team finished 15th overall.
