Bastien Brière (born May 24, 1983 in Le Mans ) is a French alternative doctor and racing driver .

Career

Bastien Brière came into contact with motorsport as a child . Route nationale 138 , formerly Route nationale 158 , which is known as the Ligne Droite des Hunaudières and thus part of the Circuit des 24 Heures , leads past his parents' house and garden . After attending elementary school and high school, he started racing himself in 2001. He drove in the French Formula Renault championship and later came into contact with Gérard Welter . The Peugeot vehicle designer had a racing team in Thorigny-sur-Marne , around 250 kilometers from Le Mans . Welter invited Briére to Le Mans for the test day in 2003 and made his debut at the Le Mans 24 Hours a few weeks later . He was a team-mate of Jean-René de Fournoux and Stéphane Daoudi , but was unable to finish the race after engine failure on the 3-liter Peugeot V6 engine in the WR LMP02 . At the end of the year he drove another race for Welter. He finished the 1000 km race at Le Mans in 27th place overall.

Bastien Brière began studying medicine and only had limited time for motorsport. In 2004 he drove again for Welter at Le Mans and again failed to reach the finish. In 2005 he drove a Courage C65 for Noël del Bello in the European Le Mans Series and in 2007 an Aston Martin DBR9 in the French GT Championship .

In order to complete his training as an alternative doctor, he did not contest any more races between 2008 and 2012. After opening his own practice at 5 rue Victor Bonhommet in Le Mans, he returned to his passion for motorsport and competed in races when time allowed. In 2012 he competed in Le Mans for the fourth time and achieved his first place in the final classification with 24th place. In 2015 he was entered in some races of the V de V Challenge Endurance Series .
