Juan Barazi
Juan Barazi (born January 22, 1968 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish lawyer, entrepreneur, racing team owner and former racing car driver .
Family, education and entrepreneurship
Juan Barazi comes from a widely ramified Kurdish - Syrian family. One of his relatives was Muhsin al-Barazi , Prime Minister of the Syrian Republic in the 1940s . Al-Barazi was executed in 1949 after a failed coup . Juan Barazi graduated in law in Switzerland and worked as an investor in the African mining business . He lives in the Angolan capital Luanda .
Racing career
After starting out in karting , Barazi began his monoposto career in the British Formula Ford Championship , which he finished second overall in 1999. However, Barazi became known as a GT and sports car driver . In 2005 he contested his first full season in the European Le Mans Series and made his debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans . He celebrated his first major success in 2006 , when he finished second overall in the 1000 km race in Istanbul with Michael Vergers and Jean-Philippe Belloc in the Courage C65 behind Emmanuel Collard and Jean-Christophe Boullion in the Pescarolo C60 . At the end of the year he and his partner Vergers won the LMP2 overall ranking of the Le Mans Series.
In 2007 he finished third in the LMP2 overall ranking of this racing series. Barazi competed at Le Mans six times in his career. He last competed in the 24-hour race in western France in 2010 . Together with Darren Turner and Sam Hancock he drove a Lola-Aston Martin LMP1 . In the last hour of the race the car, in fourth place in the overall standings, retired with engine damage. At the end of the year he ended his career as a driver.
Barazi epsilon
In 2000 Barazi founded its own racing team, which in 2005 became Barazi-Epsilon . Michel Lecomte had left Epsilon Euskadi and joined Barazi as a partner this year. The team was active in various racing series such as the European Le Mans Series, the British Formula 3 Championship and the Superleague Formula until 2010 .

Juan Barazi owns several historic racing cars. The collection includes an Aston Martin DB3S , an Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato , a Ferrari 250LM , a Porsche 917 and a Jaguar E-Type Lightweight .
