Baehr & Proeschild ( BP or B & P ) was in the 19th century in Ohrdruf in Thuringia founded porcelain factory , focusing on the production of bisque - and celluloid - dolls had specialized.

history

The company was founded in 1871 by Georg Bähr and August Pröschild as a porcelain and doll factory. A specialty was initially composed entirely of bisque and the end of the 19th century hugely popular bathing dolls . More common at the company, which used the initials BP from 1895 , are the occasionally raised eyebrows on the dolls' heads, which were otherwise used more for oriental and Anglo-Saxon doll faces.

At the turn of the 20th century, was trademark that were impressed into the doll bodies or heads, added the crossed swords. In 1909 the trademark Buporit was registered for celluloid dolls .

In 1919 the company was bought by the doll manufacturer Bruno Schmidt ; added the heart used by the new owner to the brand still in use by BP.
