Bruno Schmidt (doll maker)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bruno Schmidt ( BSW or S or BSW ) was a doll factory founded in 1900 in Waltershausen in Thuringia on the basis of wood and celluloid .

history

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Bruno Schmidt company offered numerous character babies . Those with heads made of biscuit porcelain were obtained exclusively from Bähr & Pröschild (BP).

After the trademark with a heart and the initials BSW was registered in 1904 , the heart alone in 1908 and the word / figurative mark “Mein Goldherz” for character babies from 1910, BP bought the company in 1918, but continued to run the company. However, due to the close cooperation between the two companies, the biscuit heads from Bähr & Pröschild were often given the brands of both companies, i.e. both the heart of BSW and the crossed swords of BP. The letters S or G and the heart mark were embossed on the heads manufactured after 1919 before the fire.

The Bruno Oscar Schmidt company still existed in 1945 at Ibenhainer Straße 42.

Form numbers
