Joanna Borowska-Isser (born October 10, 1959 in Warsaw ) is a Polish - Austrian chamber singer ( soprano ), music teacher and university professor for singing .

Career

Borowska-Isser studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University for Music in Warsaw with Ada Sari , and after graduating with a Mag. Art. in 1980 she worked in the opera studio of the Vienna State Opera until 1982 .

From 1982 to 1993 she was a soloist at the Vienna State Opera and made guest appearances at international opera houses, where she performed with well-known conductors such as Claudio Abbado , Christoph von Dohnányi , Nikolaus Harnoncourt , Herbert von Karajan , Lorin Maazel , Zubin Mehta , Georges Prêtre , Horst Stein or Sir Georg Solti worked together.

From 1993 she worked as a freelance artist at opera and concert events in Europe, North and South America and Japan. Engagements have taken her to Vienna, Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt am Main, Berlin, Bonn, Mannheim, Pittsburgh, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Seoul, Zurich, Bern, St. Gallen, Barcelona, ​​Bilbao, Madrid, Toulouse, Rome and Florence. The singer has also appeared at various festivals, such as the Salzburg Festival , the Bregenz Festival , the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Festival in Florence , the Vienna Festival , the Carinthian Summer and Wratislavia Cantans in Wroclaw .

Joanna Borowska-Isser lives in Graz , where she has been a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts since 2001 . She endeavored to pass on her stage experience and promote young talents in singing lessons. In 2017 she retired.
