iSport International

iSport International is a British motorsport team that competed in the GP2 series from 2005 to 2012 and 2014 . The team was founded in 2005 u. a. founded by Paul Jackson. iSport International has won the driver and team title of the GP2 series once. In 2014 iSport is in charge of the Russian Time project .

iSport in the GP2 series

2005

The debut season of the GP2 series in 2005 got off to a successful start for iSport, as the team achieved the fastest time in the battle for the starting numbers and was thus able to start the season with numbers 1 and 2. However, this success was the only one for 2005, as the drivers Scott Speed and Can Artam could not win a race. In the team ranking, the iSport International Team achieved fourth place.

2006

For the 2006 season , iSport signed the drivers Ernesto Viso and Tristan Gommendy . Viso secured iSport International's first win in the second sprint race. In the middle of the season Gommendy was that of BCN Competición coming Timo Glock replaced. ISport won four races in 2006. Two by Viso and two by Glock. Finally, iSport reached third place in the team ranking.

2007

The 2007 GP2 series is iSport's most successful season to date. Timo Glock stayed with the team and the second cockpit was given to the Austrian Andreas Zuber , who started for the UAE . Glock finally prevailed against Lucas di Grassi and won the GP2 series in the last race in Valencia . iSport won six races in 2007. Glock won five times and Zuber once. In addition, iSport International won the GP2 team classification for the first time in 2007. The two iSport drivers caused a sensation in Magny-Cours when they collided from the front row before the first corner.

2008

For the GP2 series in 2008 , iSport signed Karun Chandhok and Bruno Senna , the nephew of three-time world champion Ayrton Senna . ISport won no race in the GP2 Asia series , which was held for the first time . Bruno Senna was fifth as the best iSport pilot, Chandhok was 13. The team achieved fifth place in the team ranking.

The team won three races in the European series. Senna won the main race in Monaco and the sprint race in Silverstone . Chandhok won the sprint race at the Hockenheimring . Bruno Senna took the runner-up title in the GP2 series behind Giorgio Pantano . His team-mate Chandhok took tenth place. ISport won the runner-up title in the team competition.

2009

ISport also started in the second season of the GP2 Asia series. Giedo van der Garde and Hamad Al Fardan were signed up as pilots .

Former iSport drivers in Formula 1

Scott Speed drove for Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2006 and 2007 after his engagement at iSport . During the 2007 season he was replaced by Sebastian Vettel .

Timo Glock recommended himself for Formula 1 by winning the GP2 series and was signed by the Toyota team for the 2008 season.
