Career
Zuber, who grew up in Weißkirchen in Styria , began his career in karting relatively late in 1998 . In 2000 he moved to the Formula racing and went to the formula king at the start. In addition, he was active in the German Formula Renault for the next two years . After reaching sixth place overall in 2001, Zuber was eleventh one season later. In addition, Zuber was active in some races of the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup during this time . The Styrian then switched to the Formula 3 Euro Series , in which he drove for the Rosberg team in 2003 and 2004 . His teammate was the future Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg .
In 2005 Zuber's performance improved and won his first race in formula racing in Formula Renault 3.5 . With further successes, the Styrian secured sixth place in the overall ranking.
From 2006 Zuber was active in the GP2 series . In his first season he started for Trident Racing . As a team mate of the former Formula 1 driver Gianmaria Bruni , he achieved his first victory in the GP2 series in the sprint race in Istanbul . He managed to keep Lewis Hamilton behind him. Zuber was 14th overall at the end of the season.
In the 2007 season Zuber switched to iSport International and became a teammate of the German Timo Glock . While Glock won the championship title, Zuber only managed one win and two more podium finishes. The focus was on the two iSport pilots in Magny-Cours : Starting from the first row, the two collided before the first corner. After the end of the GP2 season, in which the Styrian finished ninth overall, he was allowed to take part in Formula 1 test drives for Honda . However, he received neither a test contract nor a sponsorship contract from the Japanese racing team. Subsequently, Zuber hoped for a test driver engagement with Super Aguri , which never came about .
The Styrian also started in the GP2 series in 2008 and contested his third season, this time for Piquet Sports . Although Zuber failed to win a race, he was again ninth in the overall standings. After the end of the season, Zuber announced his move to FMS International , the team of Formula 1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella , for which he was also active in three races in the 2008/2009 GP2 Asia Series season . In the main European series of GP2, the Styrian was consistently up front in the first half of the season and was on the podium three times. In Spa-Francorchamps Zuber could not start because the race car of his team, which is now in Scuderia Coloni was renamed, were seized. At the end of the season he finished 13th overall. At the last race of the season in Portimão , Zuber missed the chance to win after overtaking the safety car too early as the leader at the restart of the race.
Zuber ended his formula career and switched to GT racing in 2010. For Team Phönix he contested four races in the new FIA GT World Championship - and they won the first race of this series. At the night race in Abu Dhabi he won together with Marc Hennerici in a Chevrolet Corvette C6.R. Until 2013, Zuber drove repeatedly in the GT World Championship - most recently for the Sebastien Loeb Racing team in a McLaren MP4-12C GT3 .
After that, Zuber ended his racing career to concentrate on his professional career. He works in the yacht trade.
