Simon Dolan (born May 20, 1969 in Chelmsford ) is a British entrepreneur, racing team owner and racing car driver .

Entrepreneur

Simon Dolan is a British self-mademan . He left school at the age of 15 and took on an abundance of jobs to make money. In the 1990s and 2000s, he founded several companies and became wealthy. The first significant creation was SJD Accountancy, now one of the UK's largest accounting and auditing companies. The sale raised £ 100million in 2014 .

In 2010 Dolan started investing for young entrepreneurs. He handles inquiries via the micro-blogging service Twitter .

Career in motorsport

Simon Dolan's career in motorsport is closely tied to Jota Sport , a motorsport team founded in 2004 by Sam Hignett and John Stack. In 2008, Dolan went there as the main financier and now the main owner. He started out in national sports car races and switched to international GT racing in 2011 . Jota was an official partner of Aston Martin Racing at the time . In the same year he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and finished the GT-Pro class of the European Le Mans Series 2011 in eighth place overall.

In the following years, Simon Dolan was a regular starter in the Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2013 and 2015 he was third overall in the LMP2 class of the Le Mans Series, and in 2014 overall second. In 2016 he won the championship.

In Le Mans he won the LMP2 class in 2014 and finished the race in 5th place overall.
