Filipe Miguel Delgadinho Albuquerque (born June 13, 1985 in Coimbra ) is a Portuguese racing driver . From 2011 to 2013 Albuquerque competed in the DTM .

Career

In 1993 Albuquerque began his motorsport career in karting and was active in this sport until 2004. In 2005 Albuquerque switched to formula racing and competed in several formula series. In the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup he was fifth overall, in the Spanish Formula Renault he finished the season in sixth overall and in the German Formula Renault he finished third in the overall classification. In 2006 Albuquerque started again in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and won the championship title with four victories. He also became champion of the Northern European Formula Renault, also with four wins.

In 2007 Albuquerque switched to Formula Renault 3.5 and was Davide Valsecchi's team-mate at Epsilon Euskadi . Albuquerque won a race and beat Valsecchi with 81 to 37 points. He finished the season in fourth place overall. Albuquerque also took part in two GP2 series race weekends . At Silverstone he started as a representative for Ernesto Viso for Racing Engineering and at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo as a replacement for Adrian Zaugg for Arden International . He was 32nd overall.

Albuquerque in the 2008/2009 A1GP season for Team Portugal

In the winter of 2007/2008 , Albuquerque competed for the Portuguese A1GP team on four racing weekends. With a second place and two third places, he achieved the only podium finishes for his team. In 2008 Albuquerque drove for Epsilon Euskadi on the last two Formula Renault 3.5 racing weekends. He replaced Mario Romancini . In the overall standings, he took fourth place as the best result, 21st place. In the 2008/2009 season of A1GP, Albuquerque competed for Portugal again. This time he was the only operational pilot on his team. On the second race weekend he scored his first victory with a win in the main race in Shanghai . In the further course of the season five more podium finishes followed and he finished the season with his team in third place in the championship.

In the further course of 2009 Albuquerque did not find a cockpit for a whole season, but started two races each in the Superstars Series , as well as their Italian championship, and in the Italian GT championship. He won the GT3 classification in the Italian GT championship once and finished the season in 18th place overall. In 2010 Albuquerque stayed in the Italian GT championship and was runner-up in the GT3 classification with one win together with his teammate Marco Bonanomi . He also took part in two races of the Superstars Series and finished eleventh overall, as in the previous year. At the end of November, he won the Race of Champions , beating Sebastian Vettel , the reigning Formula 1 world champion, in the semifinals , and then in the final, Sébastien Loeb , the reigning rally world champion.

For the 2011 season , Albuquerque received a DTM cockpit from Team Rosberg . In the fourth race at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz , he scored his first point in eighth place. In Valencia he finished second for the first time in a race on the podium. He finished the season in twelfth place overall. Albuquerque also took part in the Blancpain Endurance Series for Audi in 2011 . Together with his teammates Bert Longin and Stéphane Ortelli , he achieved three podiums and came third in the drivers' championship. In 2012 , Albuquerque stayed with Team Rosberg in the DTM, which this season was fielding a current vehicle with the Audi A5 DTM . While his team-mate Edoardo Mortara achieved the only victories for Audi, Albuquerque remained with a fourth place as the best result without a podium finish. He improved to eleventh place in the drivers' standings. He also started in two races in the Blancpain Endurance Series in 2012 . In 2013 Albuquerque contested its third DTM season for Team Rosberg. After missing points in the first seven races, he finished fourth in race eight. At the end of the season he finished 18th overall.
