Philip Hanson
Philip "Phil" Hanson (born July 5, 1999 ) is a British racing car driver .
Racing career
Philip Hanson was a racing driver at the age of 15. He competed in karting in the UK and won the Super 1 National Junior X30 Championship in 2015 . In contrast to many of his young fellow drivers, Hanson turned to GT and sports car racing immediately after his karting days without having driven monopostor races .
After his first outing in the British GT Championship , he went to Tockwith Motorsports in the Asian Le Mans Series in 2016 . In addition, he started for the team in the GT3 Le Mans Cup . The Asian Le Mans Series 2016 ended in spring 2017 and Hanson secured overall victory in the LMP3 class with partner Nigel Moore in the Ligier JS P3 . In 2017 he drove a Ligier JS P217 in the European Le Mans Series and made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans . At the age of 18 he was the youngest starter in Le Mans history to place in the final ranking. Together with Karun Chandhok and Nigel Moore, he finished eleventh overall.
In 2018 he made his debut with a fifth place finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring and started again at Le Mans for his new team United Autosports . After an accident involving team-mate Paul di Resta , he was unable to finish the race.
