William "Will" Owen (born March 23, 1995 in Castle Rock ) is an American racing driver .

Racing career

Will Owen started his career in karting . He drove his first races in 2010 at the age of 15. In 2011 he switched to monoposto racing and celebrated his first successes in Formula Mazda . He competed in series with this racing formula until 2016 and finished sixth in the Cooper Tires Winterfest Pro Mazda Championship in 2015 and fourth in the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires in 2016 .

In 2017 Owen switched to sports car racing . He received a driver contract with United Autosports and competed in the European Le Mans Series with their Ligier JS P217 . The collaboration was successful from the start. Already the second race ended with a total victory when Owen with partners Filipe Albuquerque and de Hugo Sadeleer the 4-hour race at Silverstone won. After further successes in the 4-hour race at the Red Bull Ring , the trio finished the season in second place in the championship behind Memo Rojas and Léo Roussel .

He has competed twice in the Le Mans 24-hour race so far . After finishing 5th overall in 2017 , he finished this 24-hour race in 2018 in seventh place in the final ranking .
