Adrian Zaugg
Adrian Zaugg (born November 4, 1986 in Singapore ) is a South African racing driver .
Career
Zaugg began his motorsport career in karting in 2000 , which he practiced until 2003. In 2004, Zaugg made his first experiences in formula racing in the German Formula BMW for the Josef Kaufmann Racing team and finished seventh in the overall standings. In 2005 the young South African drove in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and finished sixth overall at the end of the season. The following year he stayed in this series for half a season and also took part in some races in the World Series by Renault . In the 2006/2007 season of the A1 Grand Prix , Zaugg was active for half a season and won one race.
In 2007 Zaugg switched to the GP2 series at Arden International . As a team-mate of Bruno Senna , he scored ten points and finished 18th overall. On the last race weekend of the GP2 season 2007 he did not start because he decided to race in Zandvoort, the start of the new A1Gp championship, which took place on the same weekend. In the 2007/2008 A1GP season , Zaugg finished fifth in the overall standings with two race wins. In the 2008/2009 season , Zaugg was again active in the A1 Grand Prix series. At the end of the season, the South African team finished 14th overall. He then moved to Interwetten Racing in the World Series by Renault . Zaugg, only contested six races in the 2009 season, where he shone with a second place in Monaco.
In the 2009/2010 GP2 Asia Series season , the South African contested the third race weekend for Trident Racing . With one point he finished 19th in the drivers' championship. His performance convinced his team, which then signed him for the 2010 GP2 series . After being unable to score any points at first, he achieved his first podium finish in the GP2 series in third at Hockenheim . At the end of the season he finished 18th overall. He also started for Trident Racing at the Auto GP season opener and finished second in the second race. In 2011 Zaugg only took part in the first race weekend of the Auto GP for SuperNova . and finished 11th and 7th. He achieved the fastest race lap. In 2012 and 2013, Zaugg drove in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Pro-Am series. He finished 4th overall (2012) and 3rd overall (2013). In a total of 22 races, Zaugg and his AM teammate achieved an overall victory, 8 podiums, 9 pole positions and 12 fastest laps.
In 2014, Zaugg was used as the official Lamborghini works driver for test and development work, and then in 2015 he made his debut in the Blancpain Endurance Championship with the new Lamborghini Huracan Gt3. The South African made a guest start in the ADAC GT Masters at the Redbull-Ring and won his first GT3 race on the second attempt.
2016 was followed by a year in the Japanese Super GT Championship, also with the Lamborghini Huracan Gt3.
In 2018 Zaugg starts for the Swiss team Emil Frey Jaguar Racing in the Blancpain Endurance Series.
