François Hubert Marie Perrodo (born February 14, 1977 in Singapore ) is a French entrepreneur and racing driver .
Family and entrepreneurs
François Perrodo is the oldest of three children of Hubert Perrodo , the founder of Perenco and passionate polo player , and Carrie Perrodo , a Singapore-born model. Carrie Perrodo is the principal owner of Perenco, an international natural gas and oil production company . According to the The-World's-Billionaires List , she was in 2016 with a fortune of 8.8 billion US dollars , the tenth richest French.
François Perrodo studied at St Peter's College at the University of Oxford and at the IFP Énergies nouvelles in Rueil-Malmaison . Since 2007 he has been the managing director of Perenco.
Racing career
In addition to his professional activity, Perrodo is active in two sports. He shares a passion for polo with his father, who died in 2006. In 1999 he was the captain of the Oxford University Polo Team . He has competed in GT and sports car races since 2012 . After starting out in the Blancpain Endurance Series , he has been a regular starter in the European Le Mans Series and the FIA World Endurance Championship since 2013 . His greatest success was the overall victory in the LMGT-Am class in the 2016 World Championship .
He competed five times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans . The best place in the final ranking was 26th in 2015 . The 2017 mission was particularly eventful . Only his teammate had Matthieu Vaxivière in Oreca 07 collision with the Ferrari 488 GTE of Pierre Kaffer . The Ferrari was pushed into the first chicane of the Hunaudieres straight, hit the guardrail and fell out. Perrodo's team then received a 10-minute stop-and-go penalty. In the further course of the race, Emmanuel Collard had a serious accident with the car, which meant that this team was also out of action. Collard was unharmed.
