Beginnings

In 2003 he entered the Scottish Formula Ford Zetec Championship, where he was third in the overall standings at the end of the season; in the Newcomer's Cup he was second behind Ryan Cannon (5 points behind).

Clio Cup

The following year Adam moved to the Renault Clio Cup, and after a long battle against Ed Pead and Paul Rivett for the championship, it was the latter who won the title in the end. Adam had thrown away his chances on the penultimate race weekend at Donington Park because he did not finish. Jonathan eventually finished third in the championship.

He then competed in the Clio Winter Cup, where he was finally able to achieve the title in the series with a win and three more podiums. In 2005 he fought again in the championship against Pead. This duel dragged on through the entire season, at the end of which Adam was able to secure the trophy.

SEAT Cupra Championship

The following year Adam began his involvement in another one-make cup, the Seat Cupra Championship. In an exciting season he was constantly at odds with the future BTCC driver Mat Jackson and Alan Blencowe. At the end of the year it was Adam who could hold his own.

After finishing sixth in the 2016 race , Adam won the LMGTE Pro class a year later.
