Daniel Gardano Serra (born February 24, 1984 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian racing driver . He currently competes in the Brazilian Stock Car Championship and is a Ferrari factory driver. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 he won the championship title in the series three times in a row. He is a two-time winner of the Le Mans 24-hour race in the GTE Pro class. In the 2017 Le Mans 24-hour race he completed the race with Darren Turner and Jonny Adam for Aston Martin Racing , and in 2019 with James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi for Team AF Corse . Here, too, he competed in the GTE Pro class.

Career

Serra is the son of three-time stock car champion Chico Serra . After getting permission from his parents, he started karting at the age of 14.

He initially competed in the Brazilian Formula Renault 2.0, as well as the Formula Renault Eurocup 2.0 , but due to a lack of financial resources, he ended his involvement in Europe. This was followed by participation in the Stock Car Lights Championship, in which he was able to impress and thus secured a place in the Brazilian Stock Car Championship. He made his debut in the Red Bull- Amir Nasr Racing Team; he was able to collect a pole position and finished the season in eighth place overall. For the 2009 season he joined the Red Bull-WA Mattheis team. On September 20, 2009, he won his first race in a stock car. For the 2017 season he signed a contract with Eurofarma RC, with which he was able to win his first title.

He was able to repeat this success the following year. At an international level, he first competed in the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship for Aston Martin Racing, in which he won the Le Mans 24-hour race. He also competed in the 2018/19 FIA World Endurance Championship for Team AF Corse. This season he was able to win the Le Mans 24-hour race again.
