Olivier Lombard (born April 25, 1991 in Poissy ) is a French racing car driver . He will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2012 .

Career

Lombard began his motorsport career in karting in 2004 , where he was active until 2008. First he switched to formula racing . In 2009 he competed in the European Formula BMW for EuroInternational . While his teammates Felipe Nasr and Daniel Juncadella occupied the first two positions, Lombard achieved 16th place overall with fifth place as the best result. He also made guest starts in the American Formula BMW.

In 2010 Lombard switched to endurance racing. For Hope Polevision Racing he took part in three races of the Le Mans Series in the Formula Le Mans class. He was on the podium twice in this class and was 15th in this category. In 2011, Lombard started one race each in the LMPC and FLM classes in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and the Le Mans Series. He subsequently received at Greaves Motorsport a cockpit for the 24-hour race at Le Mans in 2011 and the remaining season of the Le Mans Series. He started in the LMP2 class in a Zytek Z11SN together with Tom Kimber-Smith and Karim Ojjeh . He replaced Gary Chalandon . In Le Mans, the driver trio managed to achieve eighth place overall and thus achieve class victory in the LMP2. In the following two Le Mans Series races in Imola and Silverstone , further class wins in LMP2 followed. In the LMP2 drivers' standings, Lombard finished second behind his teammates Kimber-Smith and Ojjeh, who drove the entire season.

In 2012 , Lombard received a cockpit from Signatech Nissan in the newly founded FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). In an Oreca 03 he competes in the LMP2 class with Franck Mailleux and Jordan Tresson . After the third race, he finished 34th in the drivers' world championship.

Personal

Lombard's family runs the Moulin Rouge variety theater in Paris .
