Sean Rayhall (born March 10, 1995 in Winston , Georgia ) is an American racing driver .

Career

Rayhall began his motorsport career in karting in 2002 , where he remained active until 2009. He won several kart championships in Georgia. In 2007 Rayhall took part in formula racing for the first time and was tenth in the Skip Barber Southern Regional Series in winter 2007/08 . In 2008, he finished twelfth in the Skip Barber Mid Western Regional Series. He finished the Skip Barber National Championship with a win in eleventh place. In 2009 Rayhall again won a race in the Skip Barber National Championship and improved to seventh place. He also drove in the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School Championship , where he finished ninth overall.

In 2010 Rayhall competed in Pro Formula Enterprises and won the championship. He also finished second in the Southeast Division of Formula Enterprises. In addition, he competed in various Legends races. In 2011 Rayhall again took part in Legends races. He also took part in stock car races and drove in the USAR Procup Series .

In 2013 Rayhall switched to sports car racing . He competed for Comprent Motorsports in the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites and won the L1 overall classification. He also made his debut for 8 Star Motorsports in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and took part in one race. In 2014 Rayhall switched to BAR1 Motorsports in the newly created United SportsCar Championship (USCC) and took part in the PC class. After the first race he returned to 8 Star Motorsports. Rayhall had changing teammates this season. Together with Luis Díaz , he won the PC class twice. He finished the season in sixth place. In 2015 Rayhall was without a full-time engagement. For BAR1 Motorsports and Starworks Motorsport , he took part in a total of four races in the 2015 United SportsCar Championship . Rayhall also returned to formula racing in 2015 . For 8 Star Motorsports he competed in 9 out of 16 Indy Lights races . Rayhall won two races and came second twice. In the overall ranking he reached twelfth place. Rayhall also completed IndyCar test drives for Chip Ganassi Racing in 2015 .

In 2016 Rayhall received a cockpit from Panoz DeltaWing Racing for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC), as the USCC was called from this season onwards. With a fifth place he finished eleventh in the Prototype classification. He also competed in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the Prototype Challenge for Starworks Motorsport. Rayhall also drove as a regular driver in Europe in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) for Graff Racing in the LMP3 class. In the sports car, he also contested a race in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge . Rayhall also competed for Team Pelfrey in two races in the 2016 Indy Lights season .
