The USAR Hooters Procup Series is a US motorsport racing series run by United Speed Alliance Racing , which mainly drives on short ovals.

history

The series was founded in the mid-1990s by Robert H. Brooks, the then owner of the Hooters restaurant chain . He created the series in honor of Alan Kulwicki , Dan Duncan and Charlie Campbell, who died tragically in a plane crash on April 1, 1993 .

Initially a "Late Model" series was created, but Robert H. Brooks changed it to the Pro Cup, which was first held in September 1997 on the Milwaukee Mile .

In 2001 the format of the racing series was changed. There was a division into "Northern Division" (division of the north) and "Southern Division" (division of the south). The series run separately from each other in different regions of the USA. After the season of the respective divisions, the best drivers in each division enter the "Four Champions Challenge", a kind of play-off series that is comparable to the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup . The driver who collects the most points in the Four Champions Challenge is USAR Champion. The length of this play-off was initially four races, then five races from 2002 to 2005, six races in 2006 and five races since 2007.

Well-known drivers who have also been active in the USAR Hooters Procup Series over the course of their careers include Matt Kenseth , Joey Logano , Brian Vickers and Buckshot Jones .
