Kyle Kaiser (born March 5, 1996 in Santa Clara , California ) is an American racing driver . In 2018 and 2019 he competed in the IndyCar Series .

Career

Kaiser began his motorsport career in karting in 2003 , in which he remained active until 2011. In addition, Kaiser made his debut in formula racing in 2010 and took part in the Skip Barber Western Regional Championship . He finished second and was third overall the following season. He also competed in two races in the Skip Barber National Championship in 2011 . In winter 2011/12, Kaiser drove in the PFM class in the Formula Car Challenge winter series. In 2012 Kaiser entered the West Coast Championship of the Formula Car Challenge and won the PFM class. He also finished fourth in the national series of the Formula Car Challenge. In addition, Kaiser took part in two races in the Star Mazda Championship for World Speed ​​Motorsports .

In 2013 Kaiser stayed with World Speed ​​Motorsports and competed in the Pro Mazda Championship, which emerged from the Star Mazda Championship. With two fifth places as the best results, he finished the season in seventh place. In 2014 Kaiser stayed in the Pro Mazda Championship and switched to Juncos Racing . First he finished sixth in the winter series, which his teammate Spencer Pigot won. In the main series that followed, Kaiser won one race and was on the podium in another three races. He also reached sixth place here, while Pigot again won the title.

In 2015 Kaiser stayed with Pigot at Juncos Racing and the two switched to Indy Lights . Kaiser achieved second place as the best result and finished the championship in sixth place. Internally, he was again defeated by Pigot, who was again champion. In 2016 Kaiser completed his second Indy Lights season for Juncos Racing. In Avondale he won his first Indy Lights race. Another victory followed in Monterey . He finished the season in third place in the overall standings. In 2017 he became a champion in the Indy Lights series. With Juncos Racing he took part in some races of the IndyCar Series in 2018 . He was one of three drivers who shared the cockpit over the course of the season. With four starts he reached the 30th place in the overall ranking. In 2019 Juncos and Kaiser competed in two races. After an accident during training for the Indy 500, the start with the sponsorless car was briefly on the brink. In the qualification, he then pushed Fernando Alonso from 33rd place on the grid so that he was not allowed to participate. In the race, Kaiser retired after 71 laps with a spin into the wall. In addition to the IndyCar races, he competed for Juncos Racing in three races of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship .
