The Iowa Speedway is a motorsport racetrack in Newton , in the US state of Iowa . The 7/8 mile (1.4 km) long short track has 30,000 permanent seats as well as a multi-level parking area for mobile homes . Inside the race track there is a street course that is also used for racing events.

The track was developed in collaboration with former NASCAR racing driver Rusty Wallace . and is modeled after the Richmond International Raceway , on which Wallace celebrated several successes in the course of his career. On September 15, 2006, the Iowa Speedway was inaugurated.

For the opening, the USAR Hooters Pro Cup made a guest appearance on the track. Indy Racing League races have been held on the track since the 2007 season. It is also an integral part of the NASCAR Camping World East Series racing calendar . In 2009 it was included in the racing calendar of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series , the second highest NASCAR division.
