The ARCA Racing Series is an American touring car racing series hosted by the Automobile Racing Club of America . It is considered a smaller but professional series below the NASCAR Sprint Cup and the Xfinity Series .

The series' races take place on oval courses of varying lengths, from half -mile ovals like the Salem Speedway to 2.5-mile ovals like the Daytona International Speedway . As one of the last racing series, it switched from the so-called dirt tracks with loose ground to exclusively paved tracks. The last dirt race took place in the mid-1990s. Since the 2008 season, the New Jersey Motorsports Park has also been a street circuit on the racing calendar.

The most successful driver in the series is Frank Kimmel , who became champion nine times, eight times in a row between 2000 and 2007. Often the series is used as a stepping stone into NASCAR's higher touring car series. But there is no direct connection to NASCAR, the first race took place in 1953. The season opening race of the series has been part of the Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway since 1964 .
