The Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis , until the name rights were bought by O'Reilly Auto Parts in 2006 Indianapolis Raceway Park and from 2007 to 2010 O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis , is a multi-purpose race track west of Clermont in Indianapolis , Indiana .
This speedway track is the second major motorsport facility in Indianapolis after Indianapolis Motor Speedway , just 7.5 mi (12 km ) away , and with over 90 events in 2010, it has the most events in Indianapolis. Raceway Park is designed for grassroots sports, including NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and Nationwide Series races , dragster races, and regular car races.
Sprint car and other races that can be better run on a short course take place at O'Reilly Raceway Park . Traditionally, an extensive program is held here on the Saturday evening of Memorial Day weekend. It is considered the unofficial previous event of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday.
The plant in addition to the oval course has a 2.5-mile road course with 15 turns for road races of the Sports Car Club of America , and a 4400 foot long acceleration path for the annual Dragster -race the National Hot Rod Association on Labor Day .
After the 2011 season, there will be no more NASCAR races on this raceway.
