The Walt Disney World Speedway was a race track in the theme park of Walt Disney in Orlando , Florida .
From 1996 to 2000, the opening race of the Indy Racing League , the so-called Indy 200, took place here. The circuit also hosted the Chevy Trucks Challenge of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 1997 and 1998 . Since the last race in 2000, the oval course has served the Richard Petty Driving Experience and the Indy Racing Experience . At these events, fans can drive a racing car on the track themselves . Since then, professional races have not taken place on this track. In August 2015 the track was closed and the demolition of the racetrack began.
