Route variants

First Bayfront course (1985–1990)

The Trans-Am series ran from 1985 to 1990 in the Streets of St. Petersburg. The start and finish straight was on southwest 5th Avenue south of the Bayfront Arena , in whose parking lot the pit lane was. Then it went to the southwest 1st Street . Then the route ran along Beach Street to northwest 5th Avenue . Then it went over the Bayshore Drive , past The Pier , back to the start and finish straight.

Tropicana Field Course (1996–1997)

The course at Tropicana Field was about a mile west of the bayfront. The course ran around the parking lot of the multifunctional stadium.

Second Bayfront course (since 2003)

The tenth corner of the circuit at the 2006 event

In 2003 a new configuration was chosen close to the first variant. First, the Champ Car series held a race on the track. The IndyCar Series has been running in the Streets of St. Petersburg since 2005 . From 2007 to 2009, the American Le Mans Series also held a race on the track.

The start and finish line was moved along with the pit lane to Albert Whitted Airport and used an airport runway. Subsequently, former parts of the route were used with southwest 5th Avenue and 1st Street . However, one turned prematurely from Beach Street on Southwest Central Avenue onto Bayshore Drive . It couldn't pass The Pier anymore . Then it went from Bayshore Drive over redesigned streets back to the airport and the runway.
