Shelby Blackstock

Shelby Steven McEntire Blackstock (born February 23, 1990 ) is an American racing driver . He started in the Indy Lights in 2015 and 2016 .

Career

Blackstock began his motorsport career in formula racing in 2010 and competed in the Skip Barber Summer Series . In winter 2010/11 he was fifth in the Skip Barber Southern Regional Series, and in summer 2011 fourth in the Skip Barber Summer Series. He also took part in Formula Tour 1600 races. Blackstock also made his professional motorsport debut in 2011, finishing fifth in the Skip Barber National Championship . He also took part in GT races and competed for Roush Performance in four races of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge in the GS class.

In 2012 Blackstock received a cockpit in Formula racing at Andretti Autosport for the US F2000 National Championship . He first drove in the winter series and was fourth. In the main series he reached eighth place with a fourth place as the best result. In addition, he contested the entire season of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge in the GT car for Roush Performance and finished 15th in the GS classification. In 2013 Blackstock stayed with Andretti Autosport and moved to the Pro Mazda Championship . While his teammate Matthew Brabham won the championship dominantly, Blackstock was third overall with one win. He was defeated by Brabham internally with 297 to 466 points. He also took part in several races in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge for Roush Performance. In 2014 Blackstock first came fourth at the Pro Mazda Winterfest . He also finished fourth in the regular Pro Mazda Championship. He was on the podium six times and internally beat Garett Grist with 235 to 199 points . In the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, he switched to Fall-Line Motorsports. With the new racing team he won the GS class once.

In 2015 Blackstock received an Indy Lights cockpit at Andretti Autosport. With a third place as the best result, he was tenth in the championship. Blackstock also took part in a race in the 2015 United SportsCar Championship (USCC). In 2016 Blackstock stayed with Andretti Autosport in the Indy Lights. Two fourth places were his best results. He finished the season in eighth place overall.

Personal

Blackstock comes from a musical family. His mother is country singer Reba McEntire and his father is road manager Narvel Blackstock. His brother Brandon is the husband of singer Kelly Clarkson .
