RC Enerson

Richard Clayton "RC" Enerson (born March 6, 1997 in New Port Richey , Florida ) is an American automobile racing driver .

Career

Enerson began his motorsport career in karting in 2002 , where he remained active until 2011. In 2012 he switched to professional formula racing and competed in the US F2000 National Championship for ZSports Midwest w / Team E Racing - his father Neil Enerson's racing team . He finished third in the national class. In addition, Enerson took part in two races in the F1000 Championship Series . In 2013 he stayed with the racing team and competed in the regular drivers' championship of the US F2000 National Championship. First he started three of the six races of the Winterfest. In the main series, he finished ninth overall with a second place as the best result. In 2014, Enerson completed his third year for Team E Racing in the US F2000 National Championship. First he won two races of the Cooper Tires Winterfest, in which he finally won the drivers' championship. In the following main series, Enerson won five times and stood on the podium a total of nine times. With 301 to 310 points he was finally defeated by Florian Latorre and finished second overall.

In 2015 , Enerson moved to Indy Lights at Schmidt Peterson Motorsports . In Lexington he scored his first win in the racing series. He finished the season as the second best driver in his team in fourth place overall. In 2016 , Enerson completed his second Indy Lights season for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports. In Avondale he finished third. After the eighth race, he and his parents decided to terminate the contract with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports in order to use the budget for other purposes. The racing team then filed a lawsuit demanding payment of the outstanding $ 500,000. Enerson eventually used the budget to debut in the IndyCar Series . At Dale Coyne Racing he was given a cockpit for three races. He was ninth at Watkins Glen .
