New Port Richey is a city in Pasco County in the US state of Florida with 14,911 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
The city borders on Port Richey and lies on the Pithlachascotee River in the immediate vicinity of its confluence with the Gulf of Mexico . Tampa is around 45 km southeast of the city.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 14,911 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 8,693 households. The population density was 1274.4 inh / km². 88.9% of the population identified themselves as whites, 3.0% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 1.4% as Asian Americans . 3.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.7% to several ethnic groups. 11.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 22.0% of all households and persons aged at least 65 years in 36.7% of all households. 51.2% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.10 people and the average family size was 2.77 people.
20.2% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 22.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 31.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 47 years. 48.1% of the population were male and 51.9% were female.
The median annual income was $ 29,164, with 20.7% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 90.07% of the population, 5.45% spoke Spanish and 4.48% had another mother tongue.

On October 24, 1996, the Hacienda Hotel was inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places .

The crime rate in 2010 was 489 points (US average: 266 points) in the high range. There were ten rapes, 42 robberies, 114 assaults, 353 break-ins, 501 thefts, 37 car thefts and three arson attacks.
