Port Richey is a city in Pasco County in the US state of Florida with 2,671 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Port Richey is located at the mouth of the Pithlachascotee River and the Gulf of Mexico on Florida's west coast. The city borders directly on New Port Richey to the south and is about 55 km northwest of Tampa .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 2671 inhabitants were distributed over 1772 households. The population density was 485.6 inh / km². 92.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 1.7% as African American , 0.7% as Indians and 1.7% as Asian Americans . 1.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.8% to several ethnic groups. 6.0% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 16.2% of all households and people aged 65 and over in 40.7% of all households. 52.7% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.05 people and the average family size was 2.63 people.
15.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 17.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 36.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 52 years. 50.5% of the population were male and 49.5% were female.
The median annual income was $ 34,063, with 23.1% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 97.49% of the population and 2.51% spoke Spanish .

The crime rate was 396 points in 2010 (US average: 266 points) in the average range. There was one murder, 14 robberies, seven assaults, 29 break-ins, 111 thefts and two car thefts.
