Klaus Brakelmann (born October 10, 1948 in Lünen ) is a former German soccer player . The midfielder played 49 league games for Borussia Dortmund from 1967 to 1971 in the Bundesliga .

Career

The youth player from SV Preußen Horstmar 07 made his debut on February 14, 1967 in the youth national team of the DFB. The DFB youth lost the international match against England in Mönchengladbach with 1-0 goals. Brakelmann played on half left on the side of left winger Roland Weidle . After two successful qualifying matches against the Netherlands in March, he was a member of the DFB squad that took part in the UEFA youth tournament in Turkey in May . Due to the opening defeat against France with 0: 1, the DFB talents were eliminated despite the following two group wins against Austria (2: 1) and Hungary (3: 1). In the latter two games he scored one goal each. Overall, the talent of Prussia Horstmar had completed seven youth international games in the first half of 1967. For the 1967/68 season he moved from SV Preußen Horstmar 07 to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga . He made his debut on the 28th matchday of the 1967/68 season in the 2-0 away defeat against Eintracht Braunschweig . Trainer Heinz Murach had put him on the offensive alongside Gerhard Cyliax , Sigfried Held , Willi Neuberger and Lothar Emmerich . In his second Bundesliga season, 1968/69, he increased his stakes to 28 games and BVB kept the class with just 16th place. Brakelmann had experienced three coaches in Dortmund this season: Oswald Pfau (until December 16, 1968); Helmut Schneider (December 17, 1968 to March 17, 1969) and Hermann Lindemann from March 21, 1969.

He played for four years with BVB in the Bundesliga. Brakelmann played his last Bundesliga game on October 24, 1970 in the 3-0 away defeat on Bieberer Berg against Kickers Offenbach. He was substituted on by coach Horst Witzler in the 34th minute for Neuberger and formed the defense together with Jürgen Rynio (goalkeeper) as well as Ferdinand Heidkamp , Branko Rašović and Hans-Joachim Andree .

Brakelmann returned in 1971 to Preußen Horstmar, whom he led as a player-coach in 1973 in the Landesliga Westfalen . Other player stations were at Lüner SV , Teutonia Lanstrop and VfL Hörde before he was coach at TuS Niederaden for twelve years. In 2002 he was coach of the A-youth of SV Preußen 07 Fußball Lünen, which emerged from SV Preußen 07 Horstmar. In the 2007/08 season he trained the A-youth of Lüner SV until the winter break.
