The VfL Hörde (officially: Verein für Leibesübungen 1912 eV Hörde ) is a sports club from the Dortmund district of Hörde . The first soccer team played in the highest Westphalian amateur league for eight years.

history

VfL Hörde was created in 1920 through the merger of SV Roland Hörde, founded in 1912, with TV Eintracht Hörde, founded one year later . This managed in 1931 promotion to the then first-class Ruhr district league , where the team immediately reached fourth place in the 1931/32 season. VfL wrote sporting history on November 11, 1932 when it was the first Dortmund club to ever beat FC Schalke 04 , which became German runner-up in the same season. Both goals in the 2-1 win at Schalke were scored by the Hörder center forward Ranke. The takeover of power by Adolf Hitler led to a deep turning point. Club president Ferdinand Schild had to withdraw because of his Jewish belief . Since VfL refused to merge with Dortmund's SC 95 , the Hörder were banished to the district class. Two years later, he was relegated to the district class. From 1943, VfL formed a war game community with SV Schüren and Hörder SC .

After the end of the war , a merger of all local sports clubs was formed with the Sportring Hörde , but it was dissolved again after a year. In 1949 Max Michallek took over the coaching position at VfL and promptly led his team to promotion to the district class. There, VfL was runner-up behind SV Schüren in 1952. After another runner-up, this time behind the Dortmund SC 95, they were promoted to the state league in 1954 , the highest amateur league in Westphalia at the time. As the penultimate of the 1954/55 season , however, the direct relegation followed. In 1956, the new state league promotion was missed after a 1: 5 play-off defeat against Alemannia Dortmund . The return to the regional league finally succeeded in 1960, followed by the runner-up in the regional league behind the Lüner SV . In 1963, after a 5-1 victory against the second team of SSV Hagen, they were promoted to the association league , which has been the highest Westphalian amateur league since 1956.

The sporting highlight was the 1967/68 season , in which the Hörder came in fifth. When several top performers left the club or ended their careers, things went downhill in terms of sport. In 1970 VfL was relegated from the bottom of the table in the regional league, two years later it went to the district class, where VfL was passed straight through to the 1st district class. In 1976 VfL Hörde returned to the district league and two years later became runner-up behind Arminia Ickern . In 1985 the Hörder went back to the district league A. In 1991 the football department of the DJK Westfalia Hörde joined VfL Hörde. In 1997 the Hörder rose again to the district league and had to relegate three years later. In the 2004/05 and 2010/11 seasons there were repeated guest appearances in the district league before the club relegated to the district B league in 2014.
