The 1967/68 season was the twelfth season of the third-class Verbandsliga Westfalen . Westphalia champion was SpVgg Erkenschwick , which, like runner-up SSV Hagen, missed the leap into the regional league in the following round of promotion . TuRa Bergkamen , BVH Dorsten and Ibbenbürener Spvg were relegated from Group 1, and Arminia Marten , RSV Meinerzhagen and Sportfreunde Siegen from Group 2 . Westfalia Herne rose from the Regionalliga West to the Association League . Eintracht Ahaus , SV Brackwede , DJK Gütersloh , TuS Iserlohn and VfL Witten rose from the national leagues . At the beginning of this season, when there was a tie, the goal quotient no longer counted , but the goal difference .

Westphalia Championship

The two group winners determined the Westphalia champion in a decider. The champions of group 2, SSV Hagen, decided not to take part, so that runner-up VfL Schwerte came up. In front of almost 4,000 spectators on May 22, 1968 in the Oer-Erkenschwick Stimberg Stadium , the Erkenschwickers won the game 2-1. Erkenschwick and Hagen qualified for the promotion round to Regionalliga West .

Qualification for the German Amateur Championship

The runner-up of the two groups identified in -and-away the Westphalian participants in the German Amateur Championship . The two games were played on May 9 and 12, 1968. Hammer SpVgg secured qualification for the amateur championship and reached the semifinals there.
