SuS Lage (full name: Spiel und Sport Lage von 1912 eV ) is a sports club from Lage in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Lippe in Germany . The first soccer team currently plays in the district league B Detmold . Previously, the team played for nine years in the Verbandsliga , the highest amateur league in Westphalia at the time.

history

On May 12, 1912, the club was founded as FC Lage . The association has had its current name since February 16, 1920. In 1939, by order of the National Socialists , the club had to merge with the gymnastics community Lage to form the gymnastics and sports community Lage von 1862 . On May 21, 1956, the merger was resolved again. In addition to the football department, the club also offers badminton , judo , karate and gymnastics . The athletics department was formed in 1963 with the athletes of the TG situation the LG situation that today, LG Location Detmold Bad Salzuflen calls.

In 1949 the first soccer team rose to the district class and was bottom of the table there. In a relegation round the team was able to secure relegation after a 5-3 win after extra time in the replay against FC Harsewinkel . The actual game ended 6: 6 after extra time. A year later, the team rose with 6:54 points as the knocked-down bottom of the table back in the district league and returned in 1953 to the district class. There the Lagens mostly played against relegation. In 1955, the team only secured a place in the class in a playoff round with Blomberger SV and TuS Kachtenhausen . In 1959 he was finally promoted to the national league .

In the regional league, the Lagens were runner-up behind TSG Rheda in 1961 . Two years later, he was promoted to the Association League, which was the highest Westphalian amateur league at the time. Although the team rose again as the knocked-down bottom of the table , but managed to get promoted again in 1965. The sporting highlight of this era was the 1967/68 season, when the Lagener were sixth in the table with 29:31 points. In 1971 SuS rose again from bottom of the table in the national league. There the team was runner-up in 1974, ten points behind master Bünder SV . A year later it was enough for third place again.

After SuS missed the return to the association league in 1978 despite an increased rise in the course of the introduction of the Oberliga Westfalen, the relegation to the district league followed two years later. After a runner-up in 1983 behind SpVg Brakel , the Lagensians did not return to the national league until 1985 and two years later they became runner-up with one point behind TBV Lemgo . In 1991 the team managed to get promoted back to the association league. Financial problems caused another decline. In 1993 it went back to the regional league, before relegation to the district league followed two years later. Finally, in 1997, SuS arrived in the district league A.

Three years later, the Lagenser managed to rise again to the district league, where the team was runner-up two points behind SV Höxter . After a third and a fourth place, the team fell back into mediocrity and finally rose again in 2007 to the district league A. In 2019 he was relegated to the district league B.

Stadion

The footballers from SuS Lage play their home games in the Carl-Heinz-Reiche-Stadion. The stadium was opened in 1977 and has since been renovated and expanded several times. It has space for 3,000 spectators, including up to 1,100 seats. The stadium is part of the Werreanger sports center. In 2010 the stadium was named after the entrepreneur and sports patron Carl-Heinz Reiche who had died the year before and who had made a significant contribution to the development of the Lagen sports facilities.
