Willi "Eiche" Haubrock (born December 31, 1916 ; † January 2001 in Bielefeld ) was a German football player and coach.

Career

Willi Haubrock began his career at Arminia Bielefeld and rose with his team in 1949 to what was then the first-class Oberliga West . There Haubrock was used in eight games, in which, however, he failed to score. Haubrock got his nickname Oak from his teammate Willi Nolting after a goalless draw by Arminia at Rhenania Würselen . According to Nolting, Haubrock “stood like a German oak”. At the end of the season, Arminia rose again and Haubrock left the club with an unknown goal. Haubrock later moved to SpVgg Fichte Bielefeld , with whom he rose to the state league in 1956 .

After he had finished his playing career, he became youth leader and coach at Arminia Bielefeld in 1962 and later took over the DSC amateur team . At the end of the 1960s, Haubrock took over SVA Gütersloh and led the team to the Westphalia Championship in 1971 and to promotion to the then third-class Regionalliga West . Haubrock then moved to the association league club VfB 03 Bielefeld and won the Westphalia Championship in 1973 with the "Hüpkern" team. In the subsequent round of promotion to Regionalliga West, however, VfB failed. Two years later Haubrock became Westphalian runner-up with SVA Gütersloh. In addition, Haubrock was still active as a trainer at BV Werther , TBV Lemgo , SuS Lage , SuS Herford , Herford SC and TuS Wittekind Enger .

Willi Haubrock was a full-time self-employed tailor . He was married and had two children. His son Wilhelm published a book about his father's life and work in December 2016.
