Preußen Hochlarmark (officially: Sportclub Preußen Hochlarmark eV ) was a sports club from Recklinghausen . The first soccer team played for six years in the highest Westphalian amateur league.

history

The association was founded on October 15, 1911. In 1947 they were promoted to the district class, where the team immediately became runner-up behind SpVgg Herten . In 1951 the Prussians became champions and were promoted to the 2nd regional league of Westphalia . After the dissolution of this division a year later, the club reached the then third-class Landesliga Westfalen . From this, the Prussians rose again as bottom of the table. In 1955, the team was again district league champion, but was not allowed to rise due to attempted bribery of opposing teams.

It was not until five years later that he was promoted to the fourth-class national league. There the Prussians caused a sensation and ended the season tied with Ibbenbürener Spvg . Playoffs for the championship were scheduled. The Ibbenbüren were able to win the first leg on their own place with 3: 2, while the Prussians did not get more than 1: 1 in the second leg. In the following season 1961/62 finally succeeded as a champion before Prussia Borghorst promotion to the association league , from which the Prussians had to relegate as third from bottom.

Back in the national league, the team initially fought against relegation, which could only just be avoided each time. In 1967 the Prussian state league champions were ahead of Sportfreunde Gladbeck and returned to the association league. In contrast to the 1962/63 season, the club was classified in Group 2 and met clubs from the south of Westphalia. The team fought mostly against relegation and reached fifth place in the 1968/69 season.

In 1972 Prussia Hochlarmark merged with Union Recklinghausen and Wacker Recklinghausen to form Eintracht Recklinghausen . In 1981, Eintracht merged with SC Recklinghausen to form 1. FC Recklinghausen , which was dissolved in 1996 for financial reasons. FC 96 Recklinghausen was founded as the successor club. In 1983 the SC Preußen Hochlarmark was re-established. The football department was spun off in 1998 as 1. FC Preußen Hochlarmark .
