Eintracht Recklinghausen was a sports club from Recklinghausen . The first football team played for three years in the then third-class Oberliga Westfalen .

history

The association was created in 1972 through the merger of Union Recklinghausen , Wacker Recklinghausen and Prussia Hochlarmark and represented the south of the city. Union played in the first-class Gauliga Westfalen between 1934 and 1936 , while Prussia Hochlarmark played in the top Westphalian amateur class for six years in the 1950s and 1960s. The Eintracht started in the third class association league Westphalia , where Prussia last played Hochlarmark. In the first season under the new name, the team reached fourth place in group 2. In the following season, Eintracht, suffering from the financial burdens of the home clubs, had to change groups and was relegated to the national league with 29:31 points as third from bottom .

The direct rise was missed as runner-up behind the Warendorfer SU . Finally, in 1976, he was promoted to championship again, ten points ahead of ASC Schöppingen . Back in the association league, Eintracht again reached fourth place in Group 2 in the 1976/77 season. Even the runner-up was possible, but the Recklinghausen failed in the playoffs at DSC Wanne-Eickel and the amateurs of SG Wattenscheid 09 . One year later, Eintracht managed to qualify for the newly created Oberliga Westfalen.

Here the team reached eighth place in the opening season. After an eleventh place in the following season 1979/80 , Eintracht had to relegate in 1981 due to the goal difference against SV Holzwickede, which was one hit worse . On the last day of the match, Eintracht lost 2-1 at Teutonia Lippstadt and missed numerous chances.

In the summer of 1981, Eintracht merged with SC Recklinghausen to form 1. FC Recklinghausen . The merger was not without controversy. At the general assembly, those in favor of the merger only had a majority of one vote. The handball department of Eintracht split off as HSC Eintracht Recklinghausen . In 1983, former members of Eintracht founded the Eintracht Recklinghausen 83 football club , which was dissolved in 2008. The Preußen Hochlarmark Association was also newly founded.
