Teutonia Lippstadt (officially: Lippstädter Spielverein Teutonia 08 eV ) is a sports club from Lippstadt in the Soest district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The club was founded in March 1908 and offers badminton , boxing and swimming . In football , Teutonia played between 1979 and 1983 in the then third-class Oberliga Westfalen . On June 4, 1997, the football department of Teutonia merged with that of Borussia Lippstadt to form SV Lippstadt 08 .

From the foundation to the Second World War (1908 to 1945)
At the beginning of March 1908, six young men founded the first Lippstadt soccer club "Teutonia" , which was accepted into the West German game association three years later . In 1913, Teutonia achieved its first sporting success with the promotion to the B-Class. In 1921, the SV Westfalia Lippstadt club joined Teutonia, which made it to the A-class. On Ascension Day of the same year, the Am Waldschlösschen stadium was inaugurated. In 1927, after two playoffs against Minden 05, Teutonia was promoted to the eastern group of the Westphalia regional league, which was the top division at the time. After a 2-2 win in the first leg in Minden , Teutonia prevailed 2-0 in their own place in the second leg.
The jump into the top division was not without problems. The Teutonia conceded a 1: 9 defeat at Arminia Bielefeld in the promotion season 1927/28 and the SpVgg Herten prevailed in the game against the Lippstädter with 9: 2. A year later, the team was third in the table behind Arminia Bielefeld and Hammer SpVg . Teutonia was able to celebrate away wins with these two teams and thus qualified for the Regional League Westphalia , which only existed for one year. In the field of eight teams, Teutonia came in sixth. While the team at Waldschlösschen couldn't celebrate a win, they managed a 2-1 win at VfL Osnabrück .
After a few years in the middle of the table, Teutonia missed the Gauliga Westphalia in 1933 and continued to play in the second-rate district league East Westphalia, where the team was runner-up in 1938 behind Arminia Bielefeld. In 1942 the Lippstadt won the championship. In the subsequent round of promotion, the Teutonia failed like Preußen Münster on STV Horst-Emscher . For the 1944/45 season , Teutonia was accepted into the Gauliga without athletic qualifications. The game operation was canceled because of the Second World War , even before Teutonia played for the first time. From October 1944, Teutonia formed a war game community with local rivals Borussia and Luftwaffensportverein Lipperbruchbaum .
Elevator years after the war (1945 to 1969)
After the end of the war, the Lippstadt gymnastics and sports club was formed on September 22, 1945 as an amalgamation of all local clubs. A short time later, Teutonia was re-established, which in 1947, after two play-offs against TuRa Bergkamen, made it to the second-class state league . Teutonia was runner-up in the 1947/48 season, two points behind Prussia Münster . A year later, the club refused to play a contract and decided not to start in the II division . From 1950, the team played in the single-track national league and in 1952 reached fifth place. After the season, the single-track national league was abolished because it was "contrary to the statutes". In the following years the regional league was continued on five tracks.
In the mid-1950s, Teutonia fought relegation and in 1954 had only one point ahead of the first relegated FC Lübbecke . In 1956 , Teutonia missed the newly introduced Association League Westphalia . Only a year later did the team make the leap into the highest Westphalian amateur league. With a 4-2 win in the decider against TSV Oerlinghausen in the neutral Gütersloh , Teutonia secured the runner-up behind local rivals Borussia. In the promotion round, the team prevailed against SG Massen , Germania Herne , Spvg Plettenberg and SpVg Marl and made it into the association league.
After two years in the Association League, Teutonia had to relegate in 1959 as bottom of the table. It was the first descent in the club's history. At Germania Datteln it was a 2:12 defeat. Things also went downhill in the regional league and in 1962 they were relegated to the district class. It was not until 1964 that he returned to the national league under coach Fritz Machate . This handed over his office to the former national player and world champion from 1954 Hans Klodt . In 1969 Teutonia was runner-up behind the amateurs of Borussia Dortmund .
The last years until the merger (1969 to 1997)
In the 1970s, Teutonia became an elevator crew . In 1971, the team rose after playoffs against BV Selm and SV Eintracht Heessen in the district league. After the immediate resurgence in 1975 succeeded again in the league league. After only two years it went back to the national league. Under the coach Willi Soya , the direct promotion to the association league succeeded. Soya's successor Ernst Maraczek made the march through to the newly created Oberliga Westfalen with the team.
With eleventh place in the 1980/81 season , the Teutonia reached the best placement in their league time. After five regular players moved to local rivals Borussia, the team was relegated two years later . The downward trend continued. In 1986 Teutonia could only secure relegation with a 2-1 win in the decider against VfB Waltrop . A year later, the team needed another play -off to secure the league stay with a 1-0 win against TSV Marl-Hüls . Two years later, he was relegated to the state league. After the team had led the table for months, the Teutonia was still intercepted by SV Holzwickede . Only in 1990 succeeded in returning to the association league.
A year later, Teutonia saved themselves from relegation after a 2-0 win after extra time against Rot-Weiß Unna . In 1992 Teutonia was initially relegated in terms of sport, but remained in the association league after a decision at the Green Table . Due to an increased promotion to the league, only the bottom of the league had to relegate. Teutonia won the play-off against Bünder SV with equal points 6-1. After another state league guest appearance in the 1993/94 season, Teutonia played in the association league until the merger.
