The predecessor club VfB Oerlinghausen was able to record its first football successes , which played from 1931 to 1933 in the then second-class 1st district class Westphalia . After the end of the Second World War, the team rose to the district class in 1949. There the team was third in 1954 and runners-up two years later behind TBV Lemgo . Through the association league , which was also introduced as the new highest Westphalian amateur league , second place was enough for promotion to the then fourth-class regional league .

At the same time, the Oerlinghausen-based team qualified for the West German Cup , where the team was only barely defeated 0: 1 by the second division club SpVgg Erkenschwick . In the national league, the TSV footballers finished the 1956/57 season level on points with Teutonia Lippstadt behind the champions Borussia Lippstadt . In order to determine the participant in the promotion round of the runner-up to the association league, a playoff was set in the neutral Gütersloh . Here Teutonia prevailed with 4: 2.

With this the Oerlinghausen footballers reached their sporting zenith. As early as 1960, the team rose from the national league as bottom of the table again. It was not until 1975 that the Oerlinghausen-based company celebrated a comeback in the regional league, but that was over after only one year as the bottom of the table. In 1979 it went down to the district league A, which became the sporting home of TSV for many years. There were guest appearances in the district league in the 1988/89 season, from 1996 to 2000 and in the 2002/03 season. It was not until 2014 that he was promoted to the district league again.
