Nils Torbrügge (born June 18, 1992 in Bielefeld ) is a German handball player .

Career

Nils Torbrügge started playing handball at TSV Oerlinghausen in 2000 . He came to GWD Minden via the TG location in 2008 and initially played there in the youth. From the 2011/12 season , the 1.94 meter long circle was an integral part of the first team's squad. In the first year he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga with Minden . Due to his defensive strength, he is mainly used on the defensive and is only used sporadically on the offensive. In March 2015, his contract was renewed for another two years until 2017. After the 2014/15 season , he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with GWD . Torbrügge switched to TuS N-Lübbecke in summer 2016 . With Lübbecke he rose to the Bundesliga in 2017. He has been under contract with HSG Wetzlar since the 2018/19 season . From the 2020/21 season, Torbrügge is under contract with the Wilhelmshaven AGM, which is currently fighting for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga.

National team

Youth and Juniors

Torbrügge went through all youth and junior selection teams of the DHB and reached fourth place at the U-18 European Championships in 2010 . At the U-19 World Cup in 2011 and the U-20 European Championship in 2012 , it was only enough for seventh place, and at the U-21 World Cup in 2013 , only 11th place.

Beach handball

Torbrugge was also a member of the German national beach handball team for the 2015 European Championship in Lloret de Mar ( Spain ).
