Venues of the 2nd handball Bundesliga

The 2011/2012 season of the 2. Handball Bundesliga was the 32nd in its history. It was played on a single track for the first time. 20 teams played for promotion to the top German league. The relegated teams from the last season of the 1st handball league were HSG Ahlen-Hamm (now ASV Hamm-Westfalen ), TSG Friesenheim and the insolvent DHC Rheinland . The SC DHfK Leipzig was promoted from the 3rd division .

The newcomers to the next season were GWD Minden , TUSEM Essen and TV 1893 Neuhausen . 1. VfL Potsdam , TV Korschenbroich , DHC Rheinland and HSG Düsseldorf had to relegate .

mode

The mode was everyone against everyone with a home and away game. The three best teams were promoted to the 1st handball league . The last four teams relegated to the 3rd division . In the event of a tie, the better goal difference decided. If the goal difference is the same, play-offs would be scheduled.
