history

Sports and congress hall Rostock (1982)

Due to the growing number of inhabitants and the importance of Rostock as a district town, it became necessary to build a multi-purpose hall that was well suited for cultural and sporting events. A new venue for indoor handball games of the largest handball club in the city, SC Empor Rostock , was also needed.

The Rostock City Hall was opened in 1979 as a sports and congress hall. In 2006 the StadtHalle was extensively renovated. The outer walls were given new colors, the technical systems in the hall were modernized and new cooling and ventilation systems were installed. Today, numerous concerts, conferences, events and some of the home games of HC Empor Rostock and the basketball players of the Rostock Seawolves , but also party conferences (e.g. the federal party conference of the FDP , Die Linke and B90 / Greens ) take place in the hall.

The StadtHalle is to be renovated and expanded from April 2017 to April 2018 for around 16.5 million euros. The state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will contribute a maximum of 15 million euros . The rest is covered by own funds. Hall 1 is to be extended by five meters in the north. With an additional grandstand, the capacity increases to 6629 spectators. The foyer is to be expanded by 2000 square meters up to the current external staircase. The new entrances will also be able to offer barrier-free access. From October 2017 Empor Rostock should be able to use the hall again.

Technical specifications

A total of 16 halls or rooms ranging in size from 30 to 2000 square meters are available for events. The halls are located in two complexes, the large and the small event area. The large event area includes the main hall (hall 1) with the associated tiers, hall 5 and the four large foyers. The small event area consists of rooms 2, 3, 4, 6 and the small foyer. Each hall / room can be used individually.

There are around 6100 seats available in the entire hall for conferences if all conference rooms are equipped with seats. A total of 1540 seats can be provided for banquets in three different halls. For sporting events in hall 1 there are around 3000 ( handball games ) and 5000 seats (events with indoor seating, e.g. boxes) available.

Hall 1

The 12 meter high hall 1 is the main hall of the Rostock StadtHalle with a usable area of 2000 square meters (not including the tiers). All sporting events as well as major concerts, congresses, banquets and meetings take place in Hall 1.

On the two long sides of the area there is a tier with 1,300 seats, so there is always at least 2,600 seats in room 1. Additional seats for spectators can be created by arranging the seats in the interior and by expanding the tiers with two grandstands on each side. The grandstands consist of four sub-elements, of which the main element but not the side element can be moved so that they can be used for the multi-purpose use of the hall. The maximum capacity of 6600 seats is achieved for concerts with standing room inside. The maximum possible seating in the interior is 2900 seats.

After the renovations in 2017, the sprung floor was replaced by a concrete floor. This can, depending on the requirements of the event in the hall, with z. B. carpet or sports floor.

Hall 2

With row seating, up to 650 seats can be created, the maximum capacity of 1000 people is achieved with only standing room. Mainly smaller concerts or conferences are held in Hall 2. There are no stands or stands, so the hall must be set up and seating for every event. Hall 2 used to be the training hall for handball players.

Hall 5

With the renovation work in 2006, a new hall was added, which was previously used as a cloakroom. The hall is also Coca-Cola - Lounge . With a total area of 374 square meters, it is the third largest hall in the hall. It is divided into three areas, which can also be used individually through the use of partition walls.
