Handball Bundesliga 1982/83

The 2nd handball Bundesliga 1982/83 was the second of the double-track seasons in the history of the 2nd Bundesliga . The second highest division in handball was played in two seasons. The season began on September 4, 1982 and ended with the last game day on April 30, 1983.

24 teams played in the " everyone against everyone " mode with one home and one away game for two direct promotion places and relegation games for promotion to the Bundesliga . The first in the table in the North and South seasons rose directly. The second in the table had to play two playoffs for promotion. The bottom of the table were relegated directly to the regional league . The bottom of the table had to play two playoffs to stay in the 2nd Bundesliga.

New teams for the new season were TuSpo Nürnberg , SV Bayer 04 Leverkusen and OSC Dortmund as relegated from the handball Bundesliga 1981/82 as well as HC TuRa Bergkamen , TSV Altenholz , Reinickendorfer Füchse II, TSV Heiningen 1892 and the SC Saarlouis-Lisdorf as promoted from the handball regional league 1981/82 .

The season winners and thus direct climbers in the handball Bundesliga 1983/84 were TuSpo Nürnberg and HC TuRa Bergkamen . The TBV Lemgo and TuS Griesheim contributed two playoffs from around the rise, with the TBV Lemgo prevailed.

Reinickendorfer Füchse II and Berliner SV 92 had to relegate directly from the 2nd Bundesliga to the Regionalliga 1983/84 . After two relegation games between the penultimate of both seasons, SC Saargold Lisdorf was also determined to be relegated.

In the 264 games of both seasons together, a total of 9,743 goals were scored (ø 36 per game). There were 160 home wins, 40 draws and 64 away wins.

North season

In the 132 games of the North Season, an average of around 37 goals per game were scored with 4,950 goals. There were 79 home wins, 14 draws and 39 away wins. The highest home win was recorded by HC TuRa Bergkamen on matchday 22 with 28:16 against VfL Fredenbeck . The highest away win was achieved by the SV Bayer 04 Leverkusen team on matchday 18 with 13:23 at Reinickendorfer Füchsen II. The highest-scoring game took place on matchday 7 between DSC Wanne-Eickel and TSV Altenholz and ended 31:22. That was 17 goals more than the league season average. Four clubs were at the top of the table during the season: OSC Dortmund (1 ×), TBV Lemgo (1 ×), HC TuRa Bergkamen (8 ×) and DSC Wanne-Eickel (12 ×).

Promotion to the Bundesliga

The relegation games for promotion to the Bundesliga 1983/84 were played between the second-placed teams in the north and south of this season, TuS Griesheim and TBV Lemgo . After the first and second leg, TBV Lemgo rose to the handball Bundesliga with 37:34 (18:16 and 19:18).

The relegation games for relegation to the Regionalliga 1983/84 were played between the table penultimate of the seasons north and south of this season, the SC Saargold Lisdorf and the VfL Fredenbeck . After the first and second leg, SC Saargold Lisdorf was relegated to the regional handball league with 38:41 (18:14 and 20:27).
