2. Handball Bundesliga 1995/96

The second handball league launched in previous years in the 1995/96 season with a North and a Südstaffel. VfL Fredenbeck rose from the north season, and TuS Schutterwald from the south season into the first handball league .

Relegation

This was the last season without relegation games. From the next 1996/97 season, the two runners-up in the second division will play against each other in the first round. The winner plays against the 16th of the Bundesliga (until 1997/98 against the 14th) for a Bundesliga place. In the 1998/99 season the mode was different (see there).
