HSG Suhl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The HSG Suhl is a German handball club from Suhl in Thuringia . Previous names were EGS Suhl , Dynamo / EGS Suhl , AKA Suhl , HSV Suhl and HC Suhl 99 . The club is currently connected to the HV Goldlauter in a syndicate ( SG Suhl / Goldlauter ).

history

The HSV Suhl was established in 1990 as the successor to the handball section of the BSG Elektrogerätewerk Suhl (EGS) , which at the end of the GDR also started as AKA Suhl . The abbreviation AKA stood for the main sales brand of the electrical appliance factory (meaning geared towards customer requirements ). In a syndicate with SG Dynamo Suhl-Mitte , the first team spent a season in the GDR league in 1982/83 , but only scored a single point there (19:19 in the home game against BSG Post Schwerin ) and is thus the only team without a win in the history of the single-track league and last place in the all-time table. After that, the team played regularly in the southern season of the second-rate GDR league until 1991 .

"In time" for the merger of the German handball leagues in 1991, the team succeeded in advancing to handball as the winner of the southern season of the last season of the independent GDR league (referred to as " 2.Liga Ost " in the relevant 1990/91 season ) -Bundesliga , from which one was relegated directly after a year. A year later, HSV Suhl, as runner-up in the 2nd Bundesliga center, missed promotion to the Bundesliga only because of the goal difference that was three goals worse than OSC 04 Rheinhausen . From 1993 in the 2nd Bundesliga South, the team was initially able to stay in the top group and finished third in 1994 and 1995 respectively. After two years in the no man's land of the table, the relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga took place in 1998 as the last place in the southern season and in 1999 also the direct "further" relegation from the Regionalliga Südwest, also last in the table.

The meanwhile insolvent HSV Suhl was then dissolved and re-established as HC Suhl 99 . Under this name the club played at the association level in Thuringia. In 2002 the HCS was Thuringian champion, but did not rise to the regional league. The members of HC Suhl 99 were informed on April 27, 2006 that the board of directors had filed for insolvency proceedings. On August 28, 2006, bankruptcy proceedings against HC Suhl 99 were opened at the Meiningen District Court .

On August 31, 2006, the playing rights of the HC were transferred to HSG Suhl, founded on July 31, 2006 as a successor, in accordance with a resolution of the club on August 11, 2006. The SPD member of the Bundestag Iris Gleicke became the chairwoman of the association . Since 2010 there has been a syndicate with the HV Goldlauter (SG Suhl / Goldlauter). Currently (2010/11 season) the first men's team plays in the fifth-class Thuringia league.
