2. Handball Bundesliga 2005/06
The 2005/2006 season of the 2nd handball Bundesliga is the 26th in its history and started, as in previous years, with a northern and a southern relay. 39 teams play for promotion to the top German division. The first-placed clubs in the table are promoted directly to the 1st handball league . The last two clubs of each season have to go to the regional league.
mode
The mode is everyone against everyone with a home and away game. The first-placed team in each season will be promoted directly to the 1st handball league at the end of the season. The second placed play the third promoted team with a Bundesliga team. The last two teams of each season are relegated directly to the regional league. The third to last of each season play the last relegated. In the event of a tie, the better goal difference decides. If the goal difference is the same, play-offs are scheduled.

To the Bundesliga
From the Handball Bundesliga 2005/06 had to Wilhelm HV in the relegation . Ahlener SG and TSV Bayer Dormagen participated from the 2nd handball league . The winner of the game of the second division team competed against the Wilhelmshaven HV. The winner took part in the first handball league next season.
The first leg of the second division team took place on May 26, 2006, the second leg on June 2, 2006.
