history

Office of the OHV in Aurich

The forerunner of the OHV was the handball department of PSV Aurich-West . These started in 1986 in the 1st district class in Aurich. In 1996 the team won the North Sea handball league and was promoted to what was then the North Regional Handball League .

In 1999, local business people and those responsible for handball from the handball department of PSV Aurich-West founded the East Frisian Handball Club (OHV) Aurich eV.

At the end of the 2003/2004 season , the team was promoted to the 2nd handball league .

The supporting company of the OHV Aurich could no longer meet its payment obligations in April 2009, therefore Wolfgang Ladwig, as managing director of Sportmarketing Aurich (SMA) GmbH & Co. KG, filed for insolvency at the Aurich district court on April 27, 2009 .

As relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga North, the OHV played in the Handball Regional League North in 2009/2010 . There they qualified in fifth place for the newly founded 3rd division .

The team ended the 2016/17 season in sixth place in the table. With that she reached the DHB-Pokal 2017/18.

The 2017/2018 season ended in 14th place in the West season and then had to go to the Oberliga North Sea.

In the 2018/2019 season they became superior champions in the Oberliga Nordsee and rose again to the 3rd league in the second relegation round.
